Mr. Masahiro Hara

Born in 1957

Inventor of globally accepted and renowned QR Code system

Mr. Masahiro Hara has invented the QR Code, now a global standard originated in Japan, to replace the old two-dimensional code and perfected the technology to avoid mistakes and added self-correction features for fast and large volume data processing not only for automotive application but for all other needs by making it available to the world. In recognition of these achievements, the Japan Automotive Hall of Fame is honored to induce Mr. M. Hara into the Hall of Fame.

ND Code and QR Code were used simultaneously durring the transitional period.

QR Code was inspired by the Go Board pattern. Three finder pattern on the corners was Mr. Hara’s invention.

Mr. Hara at the Japan Invention Award Ceremony of 2002 with Mr. Shoichiro Toyoda, the chairman of the Invention Association.

Mr. Hara awarded with Imperial Award at the Japan Academy, 2023.
