While operating a musical instrument factory, after careful research, Mr. Genichi Kawakami embarked on a new venture – motorcycle production. Beginning with the YA-1, the Yamaha brand evolved quickly, with bikes like the DT-1 allowing riders to enjoy both on- and off-road experiences. Producing a string of high-quality and high-performance machines, and developing various new markets, he made a huge contribution to the growth of motorcycle business. In recognition of these great achievements, the Japan Automotive Hall of Fame is honored to induct Mr. Genichi Kawakami into the Hall of Fame.
