物作りは文化の一つであり、物の価値は常に社会の変 動に対応しなければならない。自動車も毎年多種多様 なものが生まれるが、それは刻々変化する社会に対応 して進歩、改善されている。その中で特に優れたハー ド並びに関連するソフトなどの開発に貢献された方々 が毎年、日本自動車殿堂から表彰される。この活動は 車の進歩改善を活性化させるための大きな役割を担っ ている。この重要な活動のさらなる発展を願うもので ある。

Manufacturing is one element of the modern culture, and prod- ucts should correspond to the change of the sense of value of our society. Every year various kinds of automobiles are put on the market and they are improved or advanced re ecting the continu- ous change of the sense of value. Persons who contribute to the development of the excellent hardware and the relating software for these new products are recognized by the Japan Automotive Hall of Fame. is recognition plays an important role in the ad- vance and progress of automobiles. I wish the Japan Automotive Hall of Fame will play this valuable role even more actively.
