私はマツダでロータリーエンジンの開発責任者を務め ましたが、その過程で痛感したことは、欧米とは異な り、日本の従業員は自分の企業に対する忠誠心が強く、 永遠の発展を心から望み、協力を厭わないことです。 この風土は、マツダのロータリーエンジンを成功に導 く原動力になっただけではなく、これからの“日本の ものづくり”にとっても欠くことのできないもので、 日本のものづくりの大切さを伝えてゆく、日本自動車 殿堂の活動に今後も大きな期待をよせています。

I led the developing team of the rotary piston engine project in Mazda Motor Corporation. During the operation I keenly real- ized that Japanese employees had more intense corporate loyalty than Westerners, hoped everlasting growth of their company and were willing to cooperate. I am assured that this climate was not the motive power to the success only in the rotary piston engine development, but it will remain as the essential factor also for Japanese manufacturing as ever. I am hopeful about the future activities of the Japan Automotive Hall of Fame which hand on the torch of the Japanese manufacturing.
